Sid the sloth…………

My 2nd DT layout out of Fancy Pants About a Boy Papers for

A little background I want to share as to why I made this layout. My dear darling son Siddarth is a huge fan of Ice Age movie. He specifically loves Sid, the Sloth. We call him Sid- the sloth at home as he constantly talks about Sid and “Sid” is short for Siddarth as well. He can say the entire movie dialogue by heart and it is hilarious.
I love the movie too. Yesterday, Ice Age the Meltdown on TV was funny. My son specially likes when Sid says, ” I am fine, I am fine…….. I am going to die” and ” We are going to live…. we are going to die”. Some other moments when Sid says ” I am a genious, Mwah… From now on call me, Sid -Lord of the Flames” And the mammoth says ” Hey!! Lord of the flames, you tail is on fire.” Oh !!! there are many I love, It is just Hilarious. So I wanted a layout for my DS to remember about his crazzzzz for Sid the Sloth.

Description of the layout:

1. Background paper is Aquarium Cordination Cardstock which is distressed using scissors distressing technique and inked with Brilliance Dew Drop Black Ink.

2. I have used a small square piece of Fancy Pants About A Boy Chillin paper inside as the first layer. This paper is distresed using scissors distressing technique and inked with Brilliance Dew Drop Pearl Black Ink.

3. The second layer of paper is Fancy Pants About A Boy Vivid paper which I cut into 2 different size rectangles, distressed using scissors technique and inked using the Brilliance Dew Drop Pearl Black Ink. I have used the orange side first and the green side on top of it.

4. The photo is also distressed. I first punched randomly with a puncher and then tore the edges and inked them using Tim Holtz’s Brushed Corduroy and Brilliance Dew Drop Pearl Black Ink. The edges for the photo is also distressed and inked similarly.

5. I used my Friskar circle punchers of 3 different sizes to punch out circles from Fancy Pants, About A Boy Peace paper and another paper from my stash. I think it is from Basic Grey. I thought this Basic Grey paper with flowers will fit in well. I have distressed all the circles and inked with Brilliance black ink.

6.The photo was layered on top of the pieces of pattern paper and the circles were also layered on the edges of the photo. I have added some Kaiser Rhinestones Black and Red and few buttons from my stash to the layers of the circles for added interest.

7. I have then added a brown lace and the blue pompom lace from Fancy pants as a frame to the photo on the other side. To increase the dimension, I have added a piece from Bella Glitter Chipboard Stickers.

8. The title is “Sid the Sloth” and alphas are from Heidi Swapp Lemonade Ocean Blue Chipboard I have distressed them and also used my gel pen to add few checks for added interest.

Hope you enjoyed reading the description of the layout.

So natural………………..

Hello everybody,

Well thanks for all those of you leaving lovely comments and all who are stopping by as well. Who wouldn’t love some nice words?Keep it coming.

This layout I made for
Their monthly challenge for Novermber
is to use a portrait photo
and a single word title
and some journaling.

When I saw the Basic Grey Ambrosia Papers, OMG!! I just love them. Loved the colors, grey, yellow, orange, red and black combo. I just wanted to have them initially, then I thought I will put the papers up on the canvas as it is and put it up in my office. But when this challenge came up. I was like, oh!!!!!!…… this paper will suit it very well.

The description of the layout.

1. The base is a black cordination cardstock. I have also used another couple of pieces of cordination black card stock and cut them into a wavy pattern using one of my fancy scissors.

2. I have used pieces of Basic Grey Ambrosia Papers Marmalade and Tangy here. Frayed the edges but no inking. I want the white frayed edges to show up against the black background.

3. I have used couple of orange piece of papers from my stash and frayed the edges as well. I have then layered all the papers including the Basic Grey ones as in the layout.

4. Photo is a potrait of mine taken by my dear husband at Niagara Falls in New York state in June this year. I converted it into B/W. I like how natural it turned out to be. Beautiful and Perfect. It wasn’t a planned shot but a quick sudden shot. Love my hair as it flies around my face due to the wind and mist from the falls. Well, that what the journalling says in a tag that is tucked behind the layer of papers.Photo goes on top of all the layers

5. I then cut out a circle from a dark red paper from my stash, frayed the edges and this time I inked them with Tim Holtz’s Frayed Burlap Distress Ink.I then placed this circle on top of the photo as in the layout.

6. Flowers are from Petaloo, Green Tara, Prima and the tiny black ones from my stash cut out of cardstock using die cuts.I have inked some flowers using Bella Golden Ink. Large Yellow flowers has Kindy Glitz Red color. For all the US readers, Kindy Glitz is similar to Tim Holtz’s stickles.

7. The red flourishes are cut out of cardstock using die cuts. The tiny white leaves I bought it from my local craft store. I have also added red sequin in the middle of the flowers.

8. The title alphas as from Pink Paislee Alpha stickers Black. I first used single word “Natural” as title for the challenge. But I felt it was not complete. I then added “So” in the beginning which then became “So natural”. Now, thats better.

9. I have then used Kindy Glitz Slick White to give the dots around the layered pieces of pattern paper. This really brought out the papers against the black background.

Thanks for reading.

I received my DT pack from Dalena ( OOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! I was excited so much looking at the papers!!!

Yup!! Fancy Pants About a Boy Papers.
Very cool papers, bright, distressed, lovely oranges, blue, green and brown. I also loved the ribbons in the pack and there is a glitter cut as well.
I am very enthusiastic about using these papers.

This is my first layout for for the month of November

Description of the layout:

1. The base is coredination cardstock Green color also sent by Dalena. I have distressed the edges using Heidi Swapp edge distressor. Oh!!!! this is so convenient than the scissors. Will put a photo of it tomorrow. I got it from my LSS for 2$.The edges are then inked using Tim Holtz’s Ranger Frayed Burlap distress ink.

2. The blue PP is from Fancy Pants, About a Boy Expression pattern paper. This paper is again distressed on the edges using Heidi Swapp edge distresser and torn randomly and then curled.
I also used Tim Holtz’s Ranger Frayed Burlap Distress Ink to ink the edges. I then used green thread and stitched the torn edges of the paper, which again was dabbed with Furyed Burlap Distress Ink.

3. The pieces of paper layered inside are from Fancy Pants About a Boy– Peace and Chillin. Both the pieces are frayed using Heidi Swapp Edge Distresser and inked with Tim Holtz’s Frayed Burlap Distress Ink.

4. Flowers are from Green Tara, half of a large yellow flower sent by Dalena and couple of flowers from Maya Road Velvet flowers. I have used Kindly Glitz, Aqua and Slice White to add dimension and sparkle to the flowers.

5. I have also cut out 2 circles out of transparency and used Kindy Glitz Slice White to add dots around the perimeter. I layered them between the flowers. They add extra interest as well as extra dimension to the flowers.

6. I have added rub ons and flourishes from my stash. The flourishes are also give the same treatment as the transparency circles for added interest and extra dimension to the layout.

7. The journalling is written on a journalling tag from K & Co Blue Awning journalling pad. The journalling says, “Little thing matter in making and keeping the family together. Celebrating festivals, sharing jokes or work and being there for each other are a few things. We are family.”

8. The title “Us” is from K & Co Blue Awning chipboard words. Oh I love them. Using every bit of them carefully. The chipboard word is distressed using Frayed Burlap Distress ink to give it a darker look. This makes the title stand out.

9. There is a brown lace I bought from my LSS. The photo was taken earlier this month on our Diwali day. The photo is frayed on the edges using Heidi Swapp edge distresser.

Hope you enjoyed reading the description.

Here are some closeup for you.
