Altenew + The Daily Marker Color Therapy Blog Hop & Giveaway!

November 18, 2019 Altenew

Hello everyone! I am so excited to be sharing my projects as part of Altenew and the Daily Marker Color therapy blog hop today.

Color Therapy Blog Hop Graphic

Altenew is collaborating with the amazing Kathy Racoosin from The Daily Marker to inspire crafters to find joy through coloring. Kathy is celebrating her 14th 30 Day Coloring Challenge until the end of November 2019. I hope you find some “me” time to colour an image or two and make a project. I find colouring very therapeutic and relaxing. In fact I had not coloured in a long time and felt instant joy when I picked up the markers to colour my projects. If you colour an image or make a card, share on social media using #thedailymarker30day. We love to see your work.

Like I said, I had not made a card in two weeks. My focus has been my daughter’s year 12 exams. Now that the exams are finished, I wanted to get back into crafting. Colouring helped me greatly to find my mojo back. Colouring helped me relax and enjoy the process. I picked Altenew’s Build a Flower Poppy stamp set and its coordinating die to colour and make my projects.

I stamped few Poppy flower images using Altenew’s permanent black ink on white cardstock and coloured them two ways. One the normal colouring filling in all the petals with colour and add shading using shades of the same colour. Second method is using stroke technique to colour. You can see the marker strokes in this technique and there is white space on the top of the petal as highlights. I did the same for the leaf images as well. Using the coordinating dies, I die cut them all out. Using the white gel pen, I added details to the coloured images. To colour the images, I used Altenew Artist Markers. Using these die cut, I made two cards.

Card #1

Altenew Color therapy blog hop card #1

I used the fully coloured Poppy flowers and leaves die cut on black background. To add texture to the background, I used Cozy Flannel cover die in black on black card base. I adhered the Poppy flowers on top using foam adhesives on the centre of the card front. The sentiment is from the same stamp set stamped on white cardstock, trimmed and adhered below the flower cluster. A few white glossy drops to finish the card. The white drops ties in with the white gel pen details and the white cardstock on the sentiment strip.

Card #2

For the second card, I used grey card base. I adhered the stroke technique coloured Poppy flowers on the card front to make a background. Love the pop of red and green against the grey background. To finish off the card, I used the Simply Friend die and Heartfelt Sentiment stamp set. I die cut the Simply Friend die using black glitter cardstock stacked with two white die cut to get dimension. The secondary sentiment is stamped using Coral Berry ink on white cardstock, trimmed and adhered below the die cut sentiment. A few black enamel dots to finish off the card.

This is why I love learning new things every day. I normally colour like you did on the first card but that brush stroke technique on the second card is absolutely to die for and so I’m definitelygoing to try that technique soon. That second card takes the cake too due to the glitter paper you used on the “friend” die cut. Both cards are pretty but your second card is definitely the bomb!
