I have been on the lookout for art pieces for one of my bedroom makeover. So I hopped on Tumblr as well as Pinterest and browsed for art print. The idea was to diy my own art from some inspirations on Tumblr/Pinterest or if possible buy them. I came across a few which will be great for card inspiration. One in particular, inspired me a lot to make a set of thanksgiving cards. So instead of picking art work for my bedroom, I pinned this art and set to make cards 🙂
I really loved the circle with the image on top. I decided to add colour to the circle, stamp over it and add sentiment. I also decided to add texture using stitched detail dies as well as roughed up edges. Being cards for thanksgiving, I used fall colours. These are simple cards and easy to make. All the products used to make these cards are from Simon Says Stamp. Here are the set of cards.
I made a mask using the dies from Simon’s Nested Circle die set. I used the negative of the mask on the cream card panels and sponged Fossilised Amber and Rustic Hinge distress inks. I removed the mask and die cut the panel using the largest stitched rectangle die. I then roughed the edges using scissors. To make the panel look a bit more old and add depth, I sponged the edges of the panel with Antique Linen distress ink.
Then I stamped the flowers from Beautiful Flowers 2 stamp set in black using MISTI and sentiment from 30 Days of Thankful stamp set also stamped in black. I adhered the panel on the corresponding coloured cardbase. But the card base was not exactly the same colour as the circle. So I sponged Fossilised Amber and Rustic Hinge distress inks on the edges of the card front. Now the colours coordinate. 🙂 Then to bring in a bit of green colour into the picture, I used Olive Branch glossy accents from Nuvo. That is it.
Here are the photos of the individual cards and closeups.
This design is versatile. If you want to make a spring card, change the colour of the circle, use white panel and a spring sentiment. For a birthday card, used a birthday themed image on coloured circle with a birthday themed sentiment on white panel. If you are inspired to use this design to make a card, tag me on social media. I love to see your work. All supplies used to make these cards are listed below.
