Let it Snow!

December 12, 2018 Christmas cards, Simon Says Stamps

I wanted to play with the DieCember release die  from Simon Says Stamp called Wrought Iron Border die. Love love the details on this die. But I was a bit bummed by how to use it creatively. This morning I had my bright idea light bulb glow in my head to make a gatefold card. Well, this is my first gatefold card. I don’t generally like elaborate cards because it is time consuming.

Hello and welcome back to my blog. I am super delighted to share this gate fold card. From start to finish, this card took me about forty five minutes. Seriously, from the time the idea popped in my head to finishing the card -45 minutes! Never ever has this happened and I am so happy with the outcome. Hope you like my card too.

The idea of used this die came to me when I went for a walk and saw this new house built with a gorgeous wrought iron gate. Ta da! That is what I am going to do with the die. But I wanted to use the die to make a holiday card with lots of gold glitter. Next I chose my colour combination. Should I go for rich dark colours or light fresh colour? While I pondered, I die cut the Wrought Iron Border die twice,  two of the Alicia and one of the Rylynn snowflakes dies using Simon’s gold glitter cardstock.  I stacked glued the snowflakes.

Then I trimmed a vellum cardstock to make two landscape card base. I trimmed the card front of the two vellum card base by 2.5″ Then the inside white panel is 4″ x 5.25″ made out of 80lbs neenah cardstock. I used the makeup brushes to sponged Cracked Pistashio, Evergreen Bough, Milled Lavender and  Seedless Preserve distress oxide inks. I love the soft and gorgeous blend the brushes gave me.

I adhered the white sponged panel on the vellum card base and the adhered this on the other vellum card base to make the gate fold card. I adhered the Wrought Iron die cut on the vellum flaps on the card. On the inside, I adhered the layered snowflakes on the top centre. The sentiment is stamped on a strip of cardstock sponged with Milled Lavendar and Seedless Preserve distress oxide ink. The sentiment is from Simon’s Tiny Words Christmas stamp set. I die cut the panel using the fish tail ended banner die from Nest Banner die and layered with the second banner die cut using gold cardstock. Finally I added some bling using Studio Katia jewels.

This ends my explanation. Now make yourself some tea or coffee or a glass of wine or drink. I have lots more photos of this card to share.

What do you think? Hope you love this card as much as I do. Let me know. All the supplies used to make this card are listed below.

GORGEOUS! Looks like a gift from Santa or a King or someone very wealthy. What an amazing card to give to a good friend. I think I would make the inside star/flake into an ornament to hang.
