Merry Christmas!

November 13, 2018 Taylored Expressions

Flamingoes are one of my favourite stamped image to colour. So when Taylored Expressions came out with Pink Christmas stamp and die combo set, I was thrilled. I stamped a few of the flamingo images from the stamp set and coloured them all. With these coloured and die cut images, I made two Christmas cards.

Hello everyone, Welcome to my blog. Hope you are having a great day! Two cards to share with you today. Both are similar yet different. You will see as I explain later in the post. Here is the first card.

Once I coloured the flamingo images and die cut them using the coordinating die, I had like a dozen of them to work with. I decided to use them all. That means making a set of cards. The flamingoes when lined up looked so adorable. I decided to line them up to made two cards. But the cards will be of unusual size. They will be long and narrow. That was okay. Love to do something different.

To create the background, I sponged the background panel with distress inks. The panel is 3.75″ x 6.25″. The distress ink colours used on this card are Tattered Rose, Spun Sugar, Worn Liptstick, Picked Raspberry and Seedless Preserve. I spattered water for texture and white paint for snow effect.

Then I lined up the flamingo die cuts  and adhered them using foam adhesives as shown. I added shadows for the flamingoes using grey markers and grounded them all. The sentiment is from Simply Said Christmas stamp set which is white heat embossed on a strip of black cardstock.

To add details, I brushed the embellishments on the flamingoes with clear shimmer and then layered with glossy accents. I also added some glossy accent drops randomly around the background panel as well. The completed panel is adhered to the cream card base. So the base is made of two Butter Cream Frosting cardstock trimmed to 4″ x 6.50″. On one of the panel, I scored at quarter of an inch from the top and added adhesive to that and adhered to the other panel. This acts as a hinge to make a card base.

Here are the two closeups.

Second card is similar except the colour of the background and line up of the flamingoes.

The distress inks colours I used for the background on this card are Picked Raspberry, Worn Lipstick, Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean, Mermaid Lagoon and Blueprint Sketch. The colours are bright and gorgeous. Everything else is same as the first card.

The lineup on this card is a bit different from the first one. I am so in love with the flamingo line up. They look so adorable. The background makes the card and also helps the sentiment pop.

Hope you are inspired by these cards. If you are and make one or many using these as inspiration, please share and tag on social media. I love to see your take. I have listed all the supplies used to make this card below for your convenience.

So much fun ! Great backgrounds, love your blending, my favourite is the blue & pink version but both are gorgeous. Can see why you liked the fun flamingos.
