It feels like I have not blogged or shared a card in a long time. I have been actually busy with making projects for a new release starting Monday. While I was making the projects, I also made this card using Simon’s Beautiful Mermaids stamp set.
I wanted to create a underwater scene without having to do any technique like ink blending or watercolouring or alcohol ink blending. So I used Simon’s Blue Violet cardstock instead as my base. I white heat embossed the images from Beautiful Mermaids stamp set on the panel and coloured them using Faber Castell’s Polychromos colour pencils quickly. Not much thought into layering or blending. I used the pencils to ground the images by colouring the sea floor.
Then I sponged some distress inks in Mermaid Lagoon and Chipped Sapphire on the edges of the panel to darken the edges and add depth. The photo does not show the sponged inks well. You can see a little on top of the panel.
Using the Sunray stencil from MFT, I sponged white pigment ink on top of the panel to mimic the light rays coming in. I came back with Mermaid Lagoon and Chipped Sapphire distress inks to soften the white pigment ink rays. Then I spattered some Copic Opaque White and Color Shine Turquoise spray all over the panel. The sentiment from the stamp set is simply stamped in black on a white strip of cardstock and adhered as shown. Finally I added some White Blizzard Nuvo drops to the bubbles.
I love love this Beautiful Mermaids stamp set. I cannot wait to make more cards using it. Hope you like this one. If you do and make one inspired by it, please do share and tag. All supplies used to make this card are listed below.
