Hello everyone!
Today a group of card designers have joined together to celebrate Winnie & Walter’s 4th Birthday with a blog hop. The theme for this blog hop is Celebrating Love and Friendship.
We at Winnie & Walter have been celebrating the birthday for this whole month. There are plenty of challenges to play along and also lots of giveaways as well. Check out Winnie & Walter Blog for more details.
For today’s hop, you should have come from Emily Leiphart’s Blog. But never to worry if you have not, I will give you the entire list of participants of the blog hop towards the end of the post.
So for the hop I have couple of cards. Here is the first one.
Last week, I shared an Eat Cake card. Here is the post if you haven’t seen the card. This card is a cooler version of the same card. Meaning I have used cool colours on the background. The background of the card is made using distress oxide inks and sealed with distress glaze to bring out the vivid colours and layers, similar to the Eat Cake card. I used normal glossy photo paper as this technique works best on glossy paper. Lighting is not that very good at the moment so the photo does not capture the colours and layer very well. You will see them in the closeup photos better.
I die cut the paper using W&W’s Essentials’s Audrey’s Cutaway. Love the small scallop edges. I also die cut a 4.25″x5.50″ size black glitter paper using the same die and used the negative of the die cut on the card front with the scallop panel inlaid inside to form card front.
I coloured the cupcake from Wish Big stamp set using copic markers and die cut usng the coordinating cutaway. I also die cut a vellum scallop circle from Ring in Celebration cutaway to layer behind the cupcake die. I adhered this on the top centre of the card.
The sentiment is from W&W’s In a Word: Birthday Tiles Cutaway die cut using the same black glitter paper and adhered below the cupcake. Finally black sequins to tie in all the black elements together.
Here are some closeups for you.
I am obsessed with this kind of background right now. Next is venturing into alcohol inks. All the stamp sets and dies used to make this card are available at Winnie & Walter store. The distress oxide inks and other supplies are available at Simon Says Stamp store.
Supplies:
My next card features Winnie & Walter’s newly released stamp sets: Dog-gone Cute, Scenery: Seeing Hearts and In a Word: Love.
This is a nearly an one layer card. I actually made one layer panel but I had to die cut the panel using W&W Essentials: Katharine Cutaway. Lol! I love diemension. There is a lot of stamping, masking, sponging and colouring in this card. I started with stamping the dogs and ball first as they are in the foreground, masked them and then using stamp positioner stamped the dog house and bowl. I masked the bowel and dog house as well, used the bone folder and burnished the masks. I then sponged distress oxide inks on the background. I used Twisted Citron, Squeezed Lemonade, Tattered Rose and Abandoned Coral distress oxide inks. I added clear water spatters and dabbed the excess off with a cloth.
I removed the masks and coloured the stamped images with copic markers.I also added some details using Sakura white gel pen. with the copic markers, I added some shading to ground the images. Then back into the stamp positioner to stamp the falling hearts using W&W’s Seeing Heart stamp set and Abandoned Coral distress oxide on top of the panel. I love adding more subtle stamping on the background. They give more texture and interest to rather boring plain background.
While the panel is in the stamp positioner, I stamped the sentiment from In a Word: Love stamp set using versafine onyx black ink. Then used the individual hearts from Seeing Hearts stamp set to stamp couple of more hearts on top of the two dogs using Abandoned Coral distress oxide ink. That’s it! But I had to die cut this panel using the largest rectangle die from Katherine Cutaway and use foam adhesive to adhere on the white card base.
Here are some closeups of the card.
I love the images on Dog-gone Cute stamp set. There are coordinating dies for the stamp set too. All the stamp sets and dies used to make this card are available at Winnie & Walter store. The distress oxide inks and other supplies are available at Simon Says Stamp store.
