A catalogue of Papercraft

Just wanted to say Hello!

May 4, 2019 Altenew

Happy Saturday everyone! Hope you are enjoying you weekend. Mine is cold and rainy. I am all snuggled up with a cuppa of tea. Perfect weather for a relaxed morning. Anyway, I am here to share a card with you.

Hello and welcome to my blog post. I recently applied to Altenew’s Educator Certification Program. I wanted to apply for it for a while now. For some reason kept postponing. This time when I saw the details on FB group, I made the plunge and applied. And I got accepted into Level 2 straight up. Cannot express how excited I am. I could not wait to start. If you like to apply, all details are on Altenew website. Click on the Education title on the top bar and into the educator program to read all the details on how it works and the benefits of getting the certification.

Today’s project is my first for the program certification. I took the Masking Unleashed class and combined basic masking, masking using dies and ink blending as well as ink blending using negative masks to make this card.

I started with stamping, masking and stamping the centre floral cluster using the Cherished Memories stamp set. Then I masked all of them to work on the background.

For the background, I die cut the leaves dies from 3D Fantasy Floral die set using masking paper and adhered the mask all around the panel over lapping with the centre masked image as well as between them. Then I sponged Fresh Lemon ink heavier on the edges fading away to the centre of the panel. I removed the masks to reveal the background. There is subtle pattern and colour to add to the depth to the panel without any bulk.

I then created negative masks for the flowers and leaves I used for the centre floral cluster. I adhered the negative mask over each of the image and coloured using Altenew inks. I used Dew Drops, Aqualicious and Teal Cave for the flowers and Bamboo and Parrot for the leaves. To add depth I added dots to the centre of the flowers fading away using the same coloured artist marker pens. Highlights were added using white gel pen.

Sentiment is from Half Tone Hello stamp set. I black heat embossed the Hello sentiment and stamped the secondary sentiment in black on a strip of white cardstock. A few white Nuvo drops to finish off the card.

I really enjoy masking technique. It takes a lot of preparation but then once that is done, the whole creating process is more fun and enjoyable. I have listed all the supplies used to make this card below.

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my blog post. Have a lovely weekend.
