Happy set of cards!

August 23, 2018 Altenew

Hey everyone,

Welcome back to my blog. Today I have a set of two cards using Altenew’s Ditsy Print stamp set. I love love this set. It is a building floral set that makes such pretty floral patterns. I spent a whole afternoon yesterday playing with it and making some pretty pattern backgrounds.  I shared couple of patterns on my Instagram yesterday. Today I used them to make this set of cards.

I love how these cards turned out. I didn’t want to take the focus off those pretty floral backgrounds. So I kept card pretty simple. I trimmed the stamped panel very reluctantly to 4 x 5.25 inches and adhered on white card base using foam adhesives. The sentiment is from Gradient Sunset stamp set. I stamped the sentiment using Distress Oxide Picked Raspberry and Twisted Citron inks on white cardstock, trimmed and adhered on the stamped panel.

Now, I used distress oxide inks to stamped on Simon’s Sea Glass cardstock. Since distress oxide inks are opaque, they are gorgeous on coloured cardstock. The colours are true to itself, opaque and sits on top of the cardstock. The ink is not absorbed by the cardstock to change its true colour. That is an awesome property of the inks. The colours I used to stamp these panels are Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick, Picked Raspberry, Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn.

Below are the photos of the two card individually and closeups.

HELP! How did you stamp the different colors? Did you use sponge daubers to apply all the inks at once or just some of inks then apply a different color and very carefully sponge the colors onto the leaves? I don’t understand how you did this and they are beautiful so I want to try to recreate them, also. Thanks for your help.

      Hi Mary,
Good Morning! Ditsy Print stamp set from Altenew is a layered stamp. There are three flower cluster layers and three leaves stamp set. Stamping them makes a beautiful floral layered cluster. Each layer of the flowers I stamp with different coloured oxide inks. No sponge daubers involved. Here is the link to the video from Altenew showing how to use the stamp set. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kgMWYlso5pM
      Hope it helps 🙂

    Mary W:
It is a layered stamp set, so the flowers are stamped in a few layers and the leaves are stamped separately. Check their website and it will make more sense 🙂

Thanks – I thought it was a background stamp and I went to SSS to see it but their link failed for the photo. This is a gorgeous stamp set.
