SSS Good Vibes Release Blog Hop!

June 21, 2018 Simon Says Stamps

Hello dear friends

Welcome back to my blog.

Today I am excited to be part of Simon Says Stamp Good Vibes release blog hop.

Today is Day #1 of the blog hop. If you have come from Heather Hoffman‘s blog on the hop, then you are on the right track. But do not worry, I will have the list of all the participants of the blog hop towards the end of the post.

Now, my post is photo heavy because I have three cards to share today. I have used the large floral cluster stamp from Strangeness stamp set on all the three cards and used three different mediums to colour them. I used copic markers, watercolours and colour pencils. For the sentiment I used the same sentiment on all three cards. The sentiments are from Vacation Time stamp set.

Lets start with my favourite technique of ink smooshing on the background and copic colouring of the image.

This technique is my current favourite. I smooshed distress ink on the background panel. The background panel is bristol smooth cardstock. Then I used MISTI to stamp the large floral image using Simon’s Intense Black Ink. Then I coloured the image using copic markers. The shading colour depends on the background colour behind the image. Using shades of those colours, I highlighted the image by adding shading and highlighting. For highlighting I used white gelly roll pen.I added a few gold spatter on the background as well by covering the image. I stamped the sentiment from the new Vacation Time stamp set. I stamped the bold primary sentiment using MISTI to get even coverage. The secondary sentiment I stamped vertically. I love doing vertical sentiments. Makes the card a bit quirky and edgy. Then I trimmed the panel and added two strips of gold glitter cardstock on the top and left side of the panel. Adhered this panel to a black card base using foam adhesives and added a few clear droplets. Here are some closeups of the card.

The colours of distress inks I used here are Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, Seedless Preserve, Mermaid Lagoon and Shaded Lilac. I did three layers of the distress ink smooshing. A light wash on the first, a second darker shade using less water and third layer is textural using very little water give more spatter kind of look. The layers give lots of depth to the background.

For the second medium, I used Faber Castell Polychromos Pencils to colour the large floral cluster from Strangeness stamp set.

I stamped the image on Neenah Solar White panel using Simon’s Intense Black ink using MISTI. Then I coloured the image using Polychromos pencils. I did layering technique to achieve good blending, shading and depth. Each area has about five layers. Yes, five layers minimum! I started colouring the image at about 8pm. At first I thought I will do only the leaves and come back to it next day morning. But I got so involved in colouring that I kept going through the night and completed colouring the image at 2am! Its my first craft that late. I normally do not craft at night. But the flow was so good that I was afraid that if I stop half way through I will not be able to continue in the same manner next day.

Here are some closeups.

I added a few highlight dots on the image using Sakura white gelly roll pen. I also added shadows aroung the image using copic markers because I was done with colour pencil layers LOL! Everything else on the card is similar to the first card. I added the gold spatter, gold glitter strips to the panel, stamped the sentiment similar to the first card, mounted on black card base using foam adhesives and added clear droplets.

For the third card, I used watercolour as the medium, precisely Zig clean colour brush pens.

So here I gold heat embossed the same image from Strangeness stamp set on Bristol smooth panel. Then I coloured the image using Zig Clean Colour Brush Pens. I also added shading to the background using grey colour.  I added gold spatter to the background and everything else is exactly the same as the previous two cards. Here are the closeups of the card.

Getting the pink and yellow to blend was not too bad. I started with a light wash of both the colours, blended them using water brush. The added the darker shade of the same colour and  blending them into the previous layer loosely. Love how it turned out. I will list all the supplies used to make these cards below. Since the colouring mediums were the only think different in the three cards, I think its best to have all the supplies into one.
