Day #3 of Taylored Expressions October Release

October 4, 2017 Taylored Expressions

Welcome back everyone,

This is my second post for today. Here is my first post.

Day #3 of Taylored Expressions October Release. Woohoo! One more day to go till you can purchase all the new goodies. Today I am doing Advent Calendar! Its going to be 12 days instead of 24 days. If you want to to 24 days then it is up to you. But you get an idea/inspiration to do advent calendar. I am going to use the Matchbox die to make mine along with the new Matchy Backgrounds – Holiday stamp set.

Here is my thought process for making my advent calendar boxes. Everyone does luxe decor now a days and mixing metals is the trend in interior decorating at the moment.  And advent calendar is something you display as part of your Christmas decor. So why not do a luxe advent calendar. My colour combination is gold, silver, white with pop of blush and mint. If you want to make this version of advent calendar, you keep the gold, silver and white but change the pop of colours according to your liking. Red and green will give a great mix of luxe and traditional. Anyway, I went for non traditional colours of blush and mint because it suits my decor at my home.

I have tried my best to take pictures of the advent calendar boxes. It was hard to picture them all in one frame with the props. So here it is.

I used TE’s gold and silver foil cardstocks to die cut the frame of the matchbox and Sugar Cube cardstock for the sliding box. Then gold and silver embossed a few Matchy Backgrounds – Holiday. I trimmed them all so they layer on the matchbox leaving half a centimetre of the gold and silver showing around them. I adhered the gold backgrounds on the silver matchboxes and silver backgrounds on the gold boxes. I used the May Arts gold and silver twine to wrap around the matchboxes and tie into a bow. Finally, I stamped the numbers from Candy Cane Numbers stamp set using Pink Champagne and Mint Julep TE dye inks and die cut them using the coordinating dies. The Candy Cane numbers are adhered on top of the matchboxes using foam adhesives. I used Pink Champagne dye ink for even numbers and Mint Julep dye ink for odd number. You can fill inside the boxes whatever you want. If can be gifts or vouchers or bible verses or Christmas messages…. Add a bit of glitter or sequins inside. I put some of them into a apothecary jar I already had in my decor and spilled some around it. Gives it a nice relaxed feel. One can go looking for day 5 box, open to find what is inside. Well, what do your think? Nice n’ easy to make, adds to your home decor and gives a relaxed look. More photos for you.

Hope you like it. All the supplies used to make these are listed below.
